The Webster Grove’s Green Space Commission believes in the POWER OF TREES to transform our City. Mature trees increase property values, calm traffic, improve air quality, reduce stormwater runoff, and provide beauty for generations. With your help, we can grow a healthy urban forest, by planting the RIGHT TREE in the RIGHT PLACE with the RIGHT CARE.
We are excited to offer you the opportunity to have a beautiful tree planted in the parkway or right-of-way at your home. If you volunteer, we ask you to help foster the tree for two years. We’ll teach you to care for the tree and provide you with the tools to do so. Once the tree is established, the City will take over the long-term maintenance of the tree.
The first-ever Green Our City initiative was a huge success!
In the fall of 2021, the City of Webster Groves, in partnership with the Green Space Commission, launched a volunteer tree planting and stewardship initiative to “Green Our City” by planting trees in public rights-of-way.
The initiative aims to improve our community forest by reversing the loss of tree canopy due to disease, development, and old age. On September 17, 2022, a group of 24 volunteers planted 13 trees and 13 dedicated Webster residents stepped up to take care of the trees during their critical establishment years. For two years they will water, mulch, and care for the newly planted trees. Long-term care and maintenance of the trees will be managed by the Department of Public Works.
